My first month as an Independent Scentsy Consultant

So, as most of you know, I'm now an Independent Scentsy Consultant!

It all started when my husband told me I needed to get a part time job in the evening. The thought of being a stay-at-home mom during the day (a taxing job in itself!) and then going to work 6-11 in the evening and on the weekends horrified me. I can barely stay awake during the day as it is! The search for a part time job continues; however, I doubt much will come of that since I'm sure there aren't many Walmart's, Starbucks, etc. that want to hire a 30 year old school psychologist with a specialist degree who is still "officially" employed by the school district. Yeh...right.

So, anyway, that led me to Scentsy. I first discovered Scentsy wickless candles at the Home & Patio Show. My husband has a booth at the show and I know he hates it when I wander off to explore. It always means its going to cost him money. This time was no different! During my exploration I discovered Scentsy, and it was love at first smell. Soon after a friend of mine became a consultant and I was pretty darn excited because then I could buy my scents from her and feel like I was helping a friend. When I realized that I needed to make some extra money (without returning to work full time) I thought of Scentsy. How hard could it be? Its an AWESOME product, I get to go to parties and socialize, and my baby can usually accompany me. So I talked to my husband, I talked to my friend (who is now my sponsor!), and a week later I became a consultant!

So let me just tell you why I love Scentsy (and why you should love Scentsy too!). Scentsy is a safe alternative to traditional candles. Scentsy warmers use a light bulb to melt scented wax cubes in a dish, which helps maximize the strength and life of the scent. The Scentsy warmer can be used over and over again with as many different scents as you want. This saves you a TON of money over time. Instead of buying a traditional candle with a wick, using it until the scent is gone, and throwing it away, you use the same Scentsy warmer every time. When the scent is gone you are a left with a beautiful ceramic home decoration instead of an empty jar to toss in the trash.

Just to show you how much you can save, lets compare:

Scentsy
One full-size candle warmer ($30) plus 12 candle bars = $80
(1 candle bar per month - tax & shipping not included)
Candle bars burn an average of 50-80 hours
Yankee Candles
Medium Jar Candle - 12 x $21.99 (14.5 oz) = $263.88
(1 Jar Candle per month - tax & shipping not included)
Candle burns an average of 60-75 hours
Savings
Medium Jar Candle $263.88 - Scentsy (w/full size warmer) $80 = $183.88 Scentsy Savings!

In addition to the cost savings, Scentsy products are significantly safer than traditional candles. Since the wax is melted with a light bulb instead of flame, there's no more worry about fire hazards and whether or not you left the candle burning when you leave the house! Scentsy warmers are perfect for homes with children and pets because you don't have to worry about them getting burned. Scentsy wax has a melting point just above normal body temperature, so you don't have to be concerned about the melted wax burning your skin.

If you frequently burn traditional candles, you may notice black soot on your walls. With traditional candles, the wax and wick both slowly disappear and end up on your walls, in the air, and in your lungs. Scentsy warmers don't heat the wax as hot as candles; therefore, only the scent is released and nothing else.

Another great thing about Scentsy is the quality. We've all seen similar products for less money, but there's a reason for this: they're cheaply made. Scentsy only uses the finest scented oils in the wax bars and the highest quality material for the warmers. You will most likely spend more purchasing the inexpensive products because they don't last as long. Scentsy is so sure of their quality that they offer a lifetime guarantee agains manufacturer's defects.

Needless to say, I LOVE Scentsy! My home always smells amazing, although I'm pretty sure my husband is incredibly disappointed when he comes home and realizes there isn't really an apple pie in the oven.

Okay, so here's the deal...

In celebration of my first month as a Scentsy consultant, I'm going to give away a free plug-in warmer. All you have to do is browse through the Bring Back My Bar scents and post a comment with the name of a scent you'd like to try. These 20 scents are available for a limited time only during the month of July. After July they will no longer be available for purchase. The deadline is Friday, July 30, so start posting your comments! If you win, I'll also be asking you to pick out your favorite plug-in warmer so feel free to post that as well. You can view the warmers here:
